Hi, I'm Debra!

Hi, I'm Debra Bloom

I've been a food allergy mom for over 19 years. I'm the founder of FoodAllergyParenting.com, creator of The Safe Snack Guide, and co-founder of SnackSafely.com.

My eldest daughter was one when she had her first allergic reaction and was diagnosed with allergies to peanuts, eggs and walnuts.

I know the fear, heartbreak and anxiety of a food allergy diagnosis for your child and the overwhelm of learning to keep them safe and included.

Though I've made plenty of parenting mistakes, I'm proud of how I navigate being a food allergy mom. Throughout my daughter's childhood, I developed systems to make things as seamless as possible so that she would be safe and included at school, after school activities, parties, family gatherings, playdates and camp.

My daughter has always gone to restaurants, traveled nationally and internationally, lives at college and has a healthy dating life.

The structures I developed over the years helped keep my daughter safe and feel included and I taught her to do the same. I'm proud that by the time she left for college she was well prepared to live on her own and manage her food allergies.

How to Keep Your Child with Food Allergies Safe and Included at Every Age provides you with a roadmap for managing your childs food allergies using the systems and routines I taught my daughter and many others.

“Thank you for writing this. I think I was meant to find you. I’ve been looking for support and I’ve felt like no one has been able to relate to my emotions or situations; whether they just don’t talk about it or haven’t been through it.”

Sheena, food allergy mom

“We are just kicking off the kindergarten registration process and the guide was very helpful in framing my ask to the school. I’ll be leaning on it heavily as we plan our first meeting with the school admin in a few weeks!

Thank you!”

Hollyann, food allergy mom

“Reading this gave me new ideas and ways of managing things. But it also serves as a reminder and a more physical place (than just my overflowing mom’s brain!) to keep coming back to as a reference point”

Denise, food allergy mom

“Thank you so much Debra for creating a guidebook that is filled with so much information I can carry through with me! There are countless articles, websites and sources that many may go seek but it's so easy to be able to reference back to your guidebook and find what I may need.”

Ashley, food allergy mom

“The guide has been a huge help in creating my daughter's 504 plan for transitional kindergarten. You’ve put a lot of time and effort into this. We’ve been on the allergy journey for almost 5 years with over 6 severe allergies and more anaphylactic reactions than I care to remember. I think your guide is helpful to all.”
